no crows left in brighstone-ings.

yeah.so there was a scarecrow competition last week which brought out a few visual straw filled delights to the sleepy villiage of brighstone, as well as a few thoroughly confused loking professional photographer types eager to capture this years entries. My personal favourite of which, bieng this guy in a long brown overcoat and flat cap with a lens longer than my arm asking the woman at the shop “so is this like some kind of wicker man thing then?!”

the talk of the show(and village for that matter) was the entry from Chris on the main road who made his effort look exactly like a policeman holding a speed camera, which had people running into the tea gardens (now a bistro and retaurant, open 9-11 daily) and ordering a double whiskey/glass of wine to console themselves about the fact that theyd just got speed camera flashed. devious effort chris…nonetheless, a great scarecrow.

other highlights included a giant crow spectacularly dressed in bin bags with the moniker ‘scareycrow‘ embossed below its intimidating wingspan. and the local scout groups effort one of which looked like a hip-hop darth vader being crucified.

unfortunately my interest in the copmpetition waned and i was working when they announced the winner, so i never found out who was announced ‘king of the scarecrows’ but apparently it wasnt the giant crow, which in my eyes is a travesty! but im just a no-body to the hort. club judges so i feel campains for  rejudging would be a wasted excercise…

i like televisionings.

no.

not the box with the pictures of celebrites doing things to house and gardens and each other.

but the band who must be 1977’s answer to the rapture and bloc party(!) i like them a lot at the moment.

this week i have also been enjoying ’steve wrights book of factoids’ (yes!) and ‘using HTML 4.o’, along with smoking roll-ups(an old standard),  playing with virtual synthesisers, wathcing lost(which is not for mongs) , eating lots of cous cous, and a new find the ‘credit crunch lunch’ – bangers and mash or pasta for £2.00 on the isle of wight or garlic chicken for £2.85 in bath. im very sorry everyone whos lost their life savings because of twatty stockbrokers and billionairre bankers but the rescession is finally rewarding the shit munchers(i thought that was clever) with some payback for their laziness in the feild of saving(or earning for that matter) cash money. score one to the wasters.

but enough about me. how about this: www.ergophizmiz.blogspot.com i generally prefer not to be a purveyor of links but if you follow this one you will find some marvellous free music especially the ‘ergo phizmiz and his orchestra plays aphex twin’ which has been a favourite of mine for a while but until this day unavailable due to out of printness or something. worth a checkout…also on there some heart warming renditions of earliy noughties r+b ‘classics’.buff.

oh yeah and for some very strange electronicings: http://www.myspace.com/datpolitics - ‘freak me out’ smashes it.

…and www.morenewmath.com is very amusing.

anyway. so i got the HTML book so i could make a nice little website, and no i cant use page builder because my computer is a jerk. its a pretty cool book which pretty much nails it in terms of making it super easy to make a website its got all these cool examples of what content to put on your website, bear in mind this book was printed in 1998 (the internet golden years!)  the first example of what you might like to show the world is this:

“Hi! you’ve discovered the home page of Bess and George Fayne, and of our wonderful children, Nancy, five, and Mikey, whos only six months old right now but already loves the computer, at least to eat! This is an experiment for us, the first time we’ver really done much of anything on a computer for ourselves, although George and I both use one at work”

which basically took me right back there to the early internet days where it was all weird sites telling you  how much Alex and Gerorgina loved holidaying in egypt and that…and also all about the band fansites…really plain ones with no mp3s or friend lists  just a humble hit counter and some super low quality graphics so they’d load up within five minutes on the 56k dial up connection!  the internet was basically for finding lyrics, e-mail(msn a lot),  finding retarded pictures and unwittingly linking people to them (goatse.cx!) , fighting on forums, burning people on guestbooks, crappy iow band websites and beta.com(still though).

and now…

haha i wont even bother but it seems like big money and boring advertisers have ruined something that was once a whole bunch of fun and owned by the people who used it. its like facebook is to small fansites what tescos is to family run businessess. the bastards have stolen the internet out from under us…of course now its a million times easier to tell the world what television programmes the smith family like(!) (we just have to fill in a few premade forms)…but at the cost of it being saturated by uniform design, catered for advertising and jingling pockets of murdoch and the ‘we must put a logo on and make a buck out of everything’ brigade…soon facebook probably will be the internet and it’ll be the horrible big five companies ruining it for everyone who wants to have good creative fun!

just like what happened in the real world. profiteering jerks killing nearly every interesting little shop or pub in favour of a tescos or a weatherspoons.

it seems the worlds getting more boring and more boring people are making more boring money out of it…how long until theres no independent shops left. how long until the internet is so saturated with shit that its worse than TV.

how long my friends…how long have i been writing this shit.
